What to Expect at Your First Visit
At River Valley Endodontics, we want your experience to be as smooth and stress-free as possible. Whether you’re visiting us for root canal therapy, endodontic retreatment, or another specialized procedure, we are here to provide exceptional care from the moment you walk through our doors.
Below, you’ll find important information about your first visit, what to bring, and how to prepare for your appointment.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your first visit to our office will include a comprehensive consultation with Dr. Ernest Reeh to discuss your dental concerns and determine the best course of treatment. He will:
- Conduct a thorough examination of your affected tooth or condition.
- Review any X-rays or imaging provided by your referring dentist.
- Explain your diagnosis and treatment options in detail.
- Answer any questions you may have about the procedure, recovery, and aftercare.
Same-Day Treatment
In many cases, we can perform treatment on the same day as your consultation. However, if your case is more complex—such as requiring a detailed medical review or advanced procedure planning—we may need to schedule a separate appointment for your treatment.
If you have any concerns, questions, or special requests, please let us know before your visit, and we’ll be happy to assist you.

What to Bring to Your Appointment
To ensure a smooth and efficient check-in process, please bring the following:
Referral paperwork from your general dentist or specialist (if applicable)
Any recent X-rays (if taken in the last six months)
A complete list of medications you are currently taking
Medical and dental insurance forms to help us assist with your coverage
Important Notes for Minors
All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Medical Considerations & Pre-Treatment Guidelines
Your health and safety are our top priorities. Before your visit, please inform our team if you:
- Have high blood pressure, diabetes, artificial heart valves, joint replacements, or a history of rheumatic fever
- Take blood thinners, heart medications, or aspirin
- Require antibiotics before routine dental cleanings due to a medical condition
By sharing this information in advance, we can take necessary precautions and tailor your treatment for the best possible outcome.

X-Ray Policy: Bring Yours or Take Them Here
If your general dentist or another specialist has taken X-rays within the last six months, we encourage you to:
- Request that they be sent to our office before your appointment.
- Bring a copy with you if they are not sent in time.
If additional or updated X-rays are required, we can take them in our office using advanced digital imaging technology.
